A small business in the Chilterns
Chiltern Care Chairs started in 1993, in a small showroom in the Chiltern Hills. Thirty years on, we're still here. Same local business, same village, mostly the same people answering the phone.
We're not a national chain and we never have been. When you call, you'll speak to someone who's been doing this for twenty years – not someone reading from a screen. No call centres, no scripts.
Doing a few things really well beats trying to do everything.
Riser recliners, adjustable beds, stairlifts. That's what we sell, and that's all we sell. The business is growing, slowly – more ways to help people stay comfortable in their own homes. But only the things that fit, and only when we can do them as well as we do everything else.

How we work
There's a way of working we have stuck with for thirty years. It is the reason customers keep coming back, and recommending us to their friends and loved ones.
i.
We ask before we recommend
We would rather you tried five chairs than guessed at one. The chair that's right for your sister isn't necessarily the right chair for you, and the chair you bought ten years ago might not be the right one anymore either.
ii.
We tell you honestly when something isn't right
If a chair is not the right fit for you, we will say so. We would rather lose the sale than send you home with the wrong thing. Customers who trust us tend to come back, and they tend to send their friends.
iii.
We work with whoever else is involved
Often there's more than one person making the decision – your husband, your daughter doing the calls, sometimes an occupational therapist with views on back support and arm height. We are used to all of it. Nothing much surprises us.
iv.
No long waits, unless you want one
We carry a large range in stock. If it is urgent – someone home from hospital, a sudden change at home – we can often deliver within a day or two, sometimes the same day. If you would rather wait a few weeks for exactly the right fabric and colour, that's fine too.

Twenty years at Chiltern
When you call Chiltern, you will usually speak to Daniel or Philip. Between them, they have spent over forty years helping people find the right chair, and they still take real pride in helping customers make the right choice.
Their approach is friendly, patient and honest. They will ask questions, listen carefully and guide you through the options with your comfort, needs and home in mind. If a chair is not quite right for you, they will explain why and suggest a better alternative.
There is no pressure and no rushed decision, just knowledgeable advice from people who understand these products and want you to feel confident in your choice.
Come to us, or we come to you
You are welcome to visit us, or we can arrange to visit you at home.
Our Chesham showroom offers the widest choice of chairs, with convenient parking and plenty of time to explore the options at your own pace. It is a good choice if you would like to compare different styles, sizes and levels of support side by side.
If visiting the showroom is difficult, we can come to you instead. Based on what you tell us, we can bring selected chairs to your home so you can try them in your own space, in the room where you are most likely to use them.
Free delivery across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, and Middlesex.
Philip came round on a Tuesday morning with three chairs in the back of the van. We had a cup of tea while my mother tried each one. He didn't push the most expensive – in fact he said the middle one would work best, which it did. She is in it now, sound asleep.
When you're ready, we'd be glad to hear from you.
Whether that is today, or in six months when you have had a proper think.
Or come and see us in Chesham, any day Monday to Saturday. There is parking right outside, and the kettle is always on. Get directions →
